At this event, facilitators will lead discussion groups on each of the 10 topics below. You choose 3 topics that interest you and spend 20 minutes per topic, interacting with your talent development peers and an industry expert.

Come to network and learn new knowledge! You’ll be equipped with innovative strategies to help in your career, while building connections and sharing experiences with professionals from the Sacramento area. Join us to polish your skills!

1) Interview Skills that Win the Job: 

A discussion on best practices for preparing for your interview and interviewing: what’s trending in interview questions, how to formulate a complete answer, what to do if you don’t have an answer, what to do after your interview.

2) Building a Resume that Tells Your Story:

Best practices and tips for resumes: how to bring your resume to life while keeping it professional, the why and how for cover letters.

3) Finding Your Best Job Fit:

Identifying your self-motivators for the best job fit, give yourself a check-up to determine your ideal personal, cultural, and workplace environment.

4) How to Land a Job Using Social Media:

How to use various social media platforms for self-promotion and learning which ones to use, how to self-promote or not.

5) The Importance of Personal Branding:

What is personal branding? How should I brand myself and/or my services? What are branding “no-nos?"

6) Being Relevant and Resilient in Today’s Career Market:

How can we best continue to improve and challenge ourselves? What is CPLP certification and should I pursue it?

7) Projecting a Professional Image:

What are potential pitfalls for us in classroom settings and personal interactions? How can I learn emotional intelligence / being more self-aware?

8) Coaching:

What is coaching? Best practices? When can I use coaching in my job as a talent development professional?

9) Mentoring:

What is mentoring? How can I be a mentor? How can I get a mentor? What are the best practices for mentoring?

10) Trends in Training and Learning:

What is the latest and greatest in the training world?What kind of activities or technologies should I incorporate into my training? What new opportunities exist for me and my business?

Note: Participants will have time to participate in 3 tabletop discussions during the session.
