  • Friday (separate registration) is an all-day hands-on interactive workshop, "E-Learning and the Science of Instruction."

Session 1 Thursday evening, May 30th

5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Location:  1410 Ethan Way Sacramento, CA , Offices of the Los Rios Community College District’s Workforce and Economic Development Center and the Small Business Development Center. Park in the South Parking Lot for direct access to the conference center.

The Thursday evening monthly meeting and presentation will provide an introduction to Ruth's December 2012 publication, "Scenario-based e-Learning: Evidence-Based Guidelines for Online Workforce Learning."

Scenario-based e-learning, also called case-based learning or whole-task learning, offers a unique opportunity to accelerate expertise by putting the learner in the role of a worker responding to a carefully selected sequence of realistic job assignments. It is especially appropriate for helping learners build domain-specific critical thinking skills or transform dull compliance courses into engaging decision-making lessons.
