Salary and Hours 
The salary is competitive and is negotiable depending on the strength of qualifications. This is a CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position with an attractive package, which includes but is not limited to: a vacation accrual rate of 16 hours per month; 12 paid holidays; excellent chose of medical, dental and vision insurance, long term disability coverage, life insurance; and retirement benefits. 

Recruitment Range: $5,834.00 - $7,334.00 Per Month 

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

Job Summary 
With appropriate oversight, the Lead Mediator/Facilitator serves as lead professional for multi-party consensus building processes dealing with complex and controversial public policy issues, using an interest-based approach to problem solving. This responsibility includes the provision of collaborative process design and situation assessment services as well as the preparation and delivery of facilitation, public involvement, and strategic planning services. The incumbent works independently on large projects, with up to 80 or more external stakeholders. The incumbent also provides project management for client projects. The incumbent coordinates the project work of the Center's Associate and Assistant practitioners. 

The Lead Mediator/Facilitator assumes Center development responsibilities, including assisting with attracting client work to the Center and preparing responses to Request for Proposal (RFP) solicitations, but is not responsible for securing billable work. Coordinates the professional development activities for Associate and Assistant practitioners and other internal development tasks.

This position is defined in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) of The California State University. It is excluded from the collective bargaining process and is also exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Required Qualifications 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 
- Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution. 
- Experience and success in conducting multi-party public processes with policy, political and stakeholder complexity, with experience using group facilitation, collaborative process design, and interest based problem-solving, AND experience using at least two of the following methods: conflict resolution, situation assessment, public involvement, organizational change, strategic planning, or visioning. 
- Experience working with senior government officials at various levels. 
- Experience providing training to others. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES 
- Current knowledge of several policy issue areas, such as natural resources, transportation, energy, health, water, and flood management. 
- Solid understanding of political dynamics as well as how public policy is developed and implemented 
- Strong project management skills (i.e. tracking work, budgets, and deliverables). 
-Ability to organize and manage large quantities of subject matter content and financial detail in developing statements of work, project budgets, responses to requests for proposals, and other written documents (e.g. client reports). 
-Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking communication skills. 
- Demonstrated ability to conduct policy, organizational, and strategic analyses. 
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability maintain effective working relationships in challenging situations. 
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to diverse internal and external constituents. 

Preferred Qualifications 
- Experience in developing Request for Proposals (RFPs). 

License/Certification 
Must possess a valid State of California driver's license and maintenance of safe driving record required.

A description of two multi-party policy processes for which you have functioned in a formally recognized facilitation or mediation role, including the sponsor/client, dates, a description of the project and your role, type of participating stakeholders, final outcome of the process, and lessons learned.
