Public Education Specialist I - Davis CA

 
Job Summary:
Under general supervision of Program Managers and Directors, manage a portfolio of supervisory, management and leadership development programs in a variety of formats (credit and non-credit courses, and certificate programs), and using a variety of delivery approaches (open enrollment, and on-site custom training). Work independently with minimal supervision on all aspects of program administration and implementation for assigned projects.  
 
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience planning/coordinating courses, events or programs in a professional or educational environment. 

- Experience with tracking expenses and budgets for programs or events. 

- Customer service experience in a business office environment to handle client/customer requests professionally, expediently, with minimum direction, following through to completion despite interruptions and multiple deadlines. 

- Computer skills with MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 

-Organizational skills to establish priorities, develop course of action, monitor project plans, review and analyze results. 

- Oral and written communication skills to interact professionally and effectively in person and on the telephone, and via email, with a diverse group of staff, students and clientele in a collaborative team environment. 

- Editing and proofreading skills, and correct use of grammar and punctuation.  
 
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience exercising independent judgment and personal initiative to achieve goals of a project. 

- Experience working in a collaborative team environment. 

- Knowledge of principles of adult learning and continuing education theory and practice. 

- Analytical skills to define a problem, identify issues, analyze data and alternative solutions, weigh consequences of solutions and make recommendations and decisions. 

- Skill in conducting research to include collecting and compiling information. 

- Skills to make promotional and educational presentations. 

- Knowledge of effective marketing methods. 

-General accounting experience to monitor and track expenses and adhere to a budget. 

- Knowledge of UC Davis campus purchasing, accounting and travel reimbursement policies and procedures. 

- Ability to act as liaison to negotiate with vendors for best terms.
