From Chief Crusader Scott Nipper:

  • Hi Crusaders,

This month I want to have an open forum where YOU do the talking!

Last month we talked a little bit about Instructional Design.  It is a HUGE subject and obviously one can only scratch the surface in 2 hours.

There were a lot of comments about the things that we didn't touch on that I know you have issues with (I have issues with them, too!).  Things like:

    • Communications

    • Working with SMEs

    • mLearning and other technology-related considerations

    • Graphics and use of visuals

    • Implementation considerations

    • Evaluating learning

    • Specific tool-related issues - how to do a certain thing

    • and others

About half of you last month indicated that you have 10+ years of experience in Instructional Design.  There is no reason for me to do all the talking with all that experience in the room.

So, this month I am not going to come with a presentation.  I am going to open the floor and we'll discuss the pressing issues and questions you have.  What are you struggling with?  What do you need help with on a project?  How do you do some of the things from the list above effectively and what has worked for you that you can share (and what hasn't worked!)?

I hope that you will find it interesting and informative.  It's something different than we've done in the past but I think this is one of the reasons you joined the group. I want you to get what you need regarding e-learning and training and I know there a lot of people in this group that have a lot of good answers and information to share and all of us can benefit.  I want you to share it.

So, come prepared with your questions and be ready to talk!

It is suggested that you bring a laptop or tablet.

  • I am going to try an audio conference for the September meeting using my ATT audio conference information.  The room has a Polycom with speakers and microphones so please dial-in and join us for a voice-only conference call for our Open Forum.

    The dial-in information is:

  • Thanks,

    Scott
