Is your organization facing change? Are you asked to provide training to deal with that change? The modern corporate environment is one of changing priorities and goals within a fluid and dynamic workforce. Teams are coming together and breaking apart at an ever-increasing pace, and people are expected to always look for new options and opportunities. In recent years, many talent development professionals have realized that the skills developed and used by people working in improvisational theater are among the strongest and are very similar to the necessary skills in the TD field. In this session, trainers and facilitators can dive into this huge array of exercises and games used by improvisers to expand and enrich their repertoire of experiential learning and review activities.

You will gain the skills to facilitate activities that enhance communication, inspire action, develop listening skills, and increase many other areas of focus.

Application to the workplace:

During this session you will:

Learn the basic principles used in improvisational theater and how these relate to principles in the modern business environment.
Be able to incorporate a selection of the simple exercises from improvisation within a team building or other organizational development context.

Presenter:

Alan Montague is founder and President of IMPROVing Organizations, a consultancy that is dedicated to leveraging Learning & Development to help organizations achieve their business goals. Before relocating to the Bay Area in 2012, Alan served as a Chapter Leader for the Chicagoland Chapter of ATD as VP Finance.

Prior to his branching out with IMPROVing Organizations, Alan worked for a range of software companies in Learning & Development roles. In a previous life, Alan was a programmer and technical support specialist.

Alan has studied advanced improvisation techniques at many of the top improvisation schools in the country and has presented at conferences and ATD Chapter meetings on Accelerated Learning and the use of Improvisation in team building. Alan will be presenting at ATD ICE in Orlando this year.

He obtained the ATD's Certified Professional in Learning and Performance designation in 2011 and has over 16 years experience on four continents helping people learn. Committed to the furtherance of our profession, Alan facilitated a CPLP study group organized by a sister west coast chapter on the Delivering Training and Facilitating Organizational change Areas

Alan served as Golden Gate Chapter's VP Programs for 2013
and 2014 and is currently serving as President-elect for 2016.
